REDEVELOPMENT STRATEGY:
The Woodstock Lofts project was redeveloped by Echelon Resources, an experienced development team with a long history of success with adaptive reuse projects.  This project utilized both federal and Virginia historic rehabilitation tax credits which require that any significant historic features be preserved and highlighted. The project plans were reviewed in detail by both the Virginia Department of Historic Resources and the National Park Service, with regards to compliance with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.

REDEVELOPMENT VISION: Woodstock Lofts is the redevelopment of the historic Woodstock Elementary School (403 West Court Street) and the historic bank building (114 West Court Street) into upscale apartment and commercial spaces. The project was completed in early fall 2021. These two historic sites were concurrently redeveloped into a mixed-use project, including market-rate rental housing – studio, one-, and two- bedroom “loft-style” residences – known as Woodstock Lofts. The historic bank building also offers first-floor commercial spaces for lease fronting Court Street. The parking and grounds at both sites were revamped as part of this combined project. The historic features were preserved and highlighted as this project utilized federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits. These upscale apartments  maintain many of their original historic features while offering polished concrete and hardwood floors, all-new appliances and systems, high ceilings, beautiful cabinets…and many other amazing features in this pet-friendly community.

SITE HISTORY: Historic information on the Woodstock School is available via the Shenandoah County Library, “Woodstock School,” Shenandoah Stories.
